Ref.#04 4948 ~ Bull Moose, Baxter State Park, Maine
For a morning hike to Sandy Stream Pond in Baxter State Park, we were rewarded by photographing this handsome Bull Moose. Don't worry, we used a long telephoto and a thick group of trees for protection. Bull Moose in the fall rut can be very unpredictable and deserve plenty of space. Standing still and letting them approach you is far safer than stalking them. Talk to them gently and don't make any threatening or sudden moves. Eventually they get tired of you and wander away.
