Ref.#13 1515~ Haleakala Crater, Maui
A giant shield volcano which covers more than half of the island of Maul This enormous caldera remained after the formation of the Hawaiian Island. The walls of the seven mile wide caldera rim surround the once active core. Within the crater are numerous cinder cones reminiscent of recent activity. This view is from near the 10.023 foot summit.
