At the very end of a busy day shooting fall colors, we were returning to our motel. I spotted some great autumn colors just off the road. It was late and getting so dark that I had little faith I could get any decent exposure on 50 ASA film, let alone use any filters to balance the light. We noted the spot and returned early the next morning. The scene was backlit softly by the rising sun. Fresh fallen multicolored leaves floated in the brook ~ Perfect! The wonderful glow faded as the sun rose over the ridge behind. I love the delicate feeling of the whole composition. It soon became one of my personal favorite images.
