Screw Auger Falls
Ref.#92 6313 ~ Screw Auger Falls
Carved through the hard granite rock of the White Mountains in Maine, the Bear River winds south to the Sunday River in southwest Maine. Because of steep drop-offs, standing on the rim of the canyon was rather precarious. This made finding a place to set a tripod very difficult for the scene we visualized. In passing a 20mm Nikkor lens to Sandy, I fumbled. The lens dropped, rolled, and bounced over the cliff and dropped into a very deep pool. We walked down below the falls later to explore finding the lens, but realized our lives were worth far more than the lens. Judging by how deep the pool was, we abandoned it to whoever might make it to the bottom of the pool in very cold water.
