The "Tree Tunnel" is a stretch of Maluhia Road on the way to Poipu on Kauai's South Coast. The highway is lined with a canopy of Eucalyptus trees first planted a century ago. This is a very busy stretch of road so I drove to it in the very early morning. This time of day also allowed the shadows to lie horizontally across the pavement so as not to give distracting vertical or angular shadows to the composition. A thin overcast softened the contrast and I turned the graduated filter upside down from normal to darken the pavement
