Ref.#89 4410~ Snow Canyon
Just north of the town of St George, Utah lies this fairly shallow canyon. While it rarely snows in the canyon it was named for early Mormon settlers Lorenzo and Erastus Snow. In the middle of the canyon are massive sandstone outcrops where you may explore red and white sand dunes frozen in time. This photograph is from the top of one such “dune” where water accumulates in a small pool after a rainstorm. Selecting a very low angle accentuates the curve of the dunes. Using the tilt feature of the view camera and a very small aperture holds it all in focus.
