Ref.#98 9484~ Sawtooth Mountains, Idaho
A view from a few miles east of the town of Stanley. A part of an old ranch that was subject to development, the meadows are now preserved in a land trust. The pine trees visible across the meadow were ravaged by the infamous pine beetle several years ago and are now slowly recovering.
The split-rail fence is an icon of the west. It required no posts although some are visible here. The advantage being it could be built on very rocky ground.
